Bats and Wind Energy Workshop
April 13-15, 2009
This workshop focuses on the latest information in field/study designs, acoustics, techniques, and protocols (both pre- and post-construction). It targets land managers, government regulators, industry professionals and consultants predicting risk for bats or conducting surveys for bats. The workshop focuses on providing practical information and training, with demonstrations and instruction by professionals, academics, and equipment designers.
Monday, April 13th: starts at 7:00 pm with an evening mixer and an optional "Bats 101" session for those less familiar with the pertinent biology of these flying mammals.
Tuesday, April 14th: all day program. In the evening, witness the free-tail bat emergence at Congress Avenue Bridge -- technology demonstrations.
Wednesday, April 15th: all day program. The afternoon consists of various break-out sessions for hands-on learning and opportunities to ask questions of the experts. Break-out session topics include: Anabat, Pettersson and Sonobat, Binary Acoustic Technology, Field Methods for Deploying Detectors, Carcass Searches, Radar, and Fatality Estimation. All sessions except Fatality Estimation will be on a rotational schedule – it is anticipated that each participant will be able to attend 3 or 4 of these sessions. Workshop ends ~5:30 pm.

Registration: Space is limited, so please register early to guarantee a seat. Full refunds prior to March 15th; registration fee minus 25% will be refunded for cancellations prior to April 7th. No refunds after April 7th.
Registration fee for workshop: $275. Discounted fees: students $100; government $150. (note: fee does not include the WBWG conference which starts in the evening of April 15th)
